A lot has been written and said about the importance of diversity in the workplace. Organizations today are focused towards a positive change in taking effective steps toward better diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI).
The theme for this year’s celebrations is Embrace Equity. What’s equity and why is it important in today’s business? Equity is about giving people opportunities based on their circumstances to achieve a fair and equal end result. And what this means is to move away from a one-size-fits-all approach and customize solutions based on where people have come from, and how important is that in shaping who they are. In the case of women, it means to empower women with resources and opportunities based on their individual circumstances in order to level the playing field.
With this mission for embracing equity, we should collectively work towards building an inclusive work culture where women can have thriving careers and their achievements can be celebrated. As we often read about the ways to celebrate women’s day at work, let’s talk about the things we should avoid doing to truly celebrate women at work.
